Season pass

Albums

A seasonal card collection feature that helps clients create repeat engagement through packs, collectible cards, rarity, and milestone rewards.

Albums are a seasonal collection feature in season pass that allows users to collect cards, open packs, complete album progress, and unlock milestone rewards.

Albums are part of the Season Pass activity loop. They give users another reason to return, participate in activities, collect rewards, and keep progressing throughout the active season.

What Albums Do

Albums help turn seasonal participation into a collectible experience.

Users collect cards from packs, place them into the active season album, and progress through album categories and sub-categories. As users complete parts of the album, they can unlock milestone rewards.

Albums can support:

  • Repeat engagement through daily pack claims
  • Season Pass progression
  • Collectible card mechanics
  • Rarity-based card collection
  • Hidden progress discovery
  • Milestone rewards for partial and full completion
  • Seasonal content refreshes

How Albums Work

Each season can have its own album.

During the active season, users can collect cards for that season’s album. When a new season starts, a new album and new collectibles become available.

Users can still switch back to previous seasons to view their past albums, but previous season albums are view-only. Once a season ends, users can no longer collect missing cards from that season.

Album Structure

An album can be organized into multiple levels:

Album
└── Category
    └── Sub-category
        └── Cards

Each album can contain multiple categories, and each category can contain multiple sub-categories. Clients have full flexibility to define the album structure based on the season setup.

This allows each album to be designed around the campaign, content theme, reward structure, or progression model of the active season.

Cards

Cards are the collectible items inside an album.

Uncollected cards are shown as hidden placeholders. This allows users to understand their album progress and see what is still missing without revealing the actual card before it is collected.

When a user receives a card, the card is revealed and added to their collection.

Card Packs

Cards are obtained through packs.

Each pack contains by default 4 cards. Packs only contain album cards and do not include coins, XP, vouchers, or other reward types.

Users can receive packs in multiple ways:

  • As rewards during certain occasions or campaign moments
  • Through a daily pack claim
  • By purchasing packs using coins

All packs opened during a season contain cards from the current active season album.

Daily Pack Claim

Users can claim a daily pack during the active season.

The daily pack claim encourages users to return regularly and continue progressing through their album. Since each pack contains cards from the current season, daily claims help users build their collection over time.

Buying Packs with Coins

Users can also buy packs using coins.

This connects the album feature with the wider Season Pass economy. Users can earn coins through activities, then spend those coins to buy more packs and increase their chances of completing the album.

Card Grades

Each card has a grade.

Available card grades are:

  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Magenta
  • Red
  • Gold

Each grade has its own visual style and card effect. These effects are visual only and do not create gameplay advantages.

Card grades help make the collection experience feel more exciting by giving different cards different levels of visual impact.

Card Rarity

Each card also has a rarity percentage.

Rarity is shown from 1% to 100%. This percentage works as a card quality score.

For example, a user may receive the same Blue card multiple times, but each version can have a different rarity percentage. A 100% rarity version is the best possible version of that card, while lower percentages represent less rare versions.

This means users are not only collecting cards, but also trying to collect better versions of the same card.

Duplicate Cards

Duplicate cards are kept in the user’s collection.

If a user receives the same card more than once with the same grade and rarity, the duplicate remains part of their card stack. Users can view all collected versions of that card, with the highest-rarity version shown first.

This allows duplicates to still have value as part of the collection history instead of being discarded automatically.

Milestone Rewards

Albums can include milestone rewards.

Rewards can be unlocked when users complete:

  • A sub-category
  • A category
  • The full album

Milestone rewards are hidden until unlocked. This creates a sense of discovery and gives users more motivation to keep collecting cards.

The reward can depend on the campaign setup. For example, a milestone reward can be:

  • A new pack
  • XP
  • Coins
  • Another configured reward

Season-Based Albums

Albums are connected to seasons.

Each new season can introduce a new album, new cards, new categories, new sub-categories, and new milestone rewards.

When the season is active, users can collect cards and open packs for that season’s album. When the season ends, the album becomes view-only. Users can still access it by switching to a previous season, but they can no longer collect missing cards from that ended season.

What Clients Can Configure

Clients have high-level flexibility over how Albums are designed for each season.

Clients can configure:

  • The active season album
  • Album categories
  • Album sub-categories
  • The number of cards in the album
  • Card grades
  • Card visual styles and effects
  • Card rarity rules
  • Pack availability
  • Daily pack claim behavior
  • Coin-based pack purchases
  • Milestone rewards
  • Rewards for sub-category, category, or full album completion

This gives clients control over how simple or complex the album experience should be for each season.

User Experience Summary

The album experience follows a simple loop:

Join active season
→ Claim or earn packs
→ Open packs
→ Reveal cards
→ Fill album progress
→ Complete sub-categories, categories, or the full album
→ Unlock hidden milestone rewards

Albums make the Season Pass experience more collectible, visual, and progression-driven. They give users a reason to keep returning during the season while giving clients a flexible way to structure seasonal engagement.
